It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret (Peggi) McDonald at the age of 82. She left us peacefully at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock on August 16, 2024. She was pre deceased by her husband of 30 years John McDonald

She will always be loved and greatly missed by those she left behind. She will be watching over us, her sisters Nancy True (Bud), Judy Burke (Manning), her nieces and nephews Kim McEwen (Shane), Cathy Frivalt (Rick), Jane Varey (Pete), Sharon McGuire (Paul), Lianne Durant (Mark), Sandi Walsh, Terry Barkley, Gary Burke (Peter Wells), as well as many great nieces, nephews, and many great great nieces, nephews, as well as her dear friends.

Peggi was pre deceased by her mother (Emma Mahlitz), father (Otto Mahlitz), sister Shirley Bandy, sister Roddy Hills, sister Diane Runtz, bother in law Bud True, nephew Richard Murray, and niece Krista Barkley.

Peggi was born in Ottawa, and joined the military in 1960, she served for 26 years, and had many postings in different parts of the world.  After retirement Peggi and John were full time RVer’s for 28 years, and then settled in Woodstock. Peggi had a passion for travel and wrote for magazines, presented seminars and published 2 travel books “Spirit of the Open Road & RV Living in the 21st Century”. She was also part of a travel TV show for 2 years “RV Vacation Adventures”  She loved and held her many dachshund’s close to her heart over many years.

Peggi will be put to rest at National Military Cemetery, Beechwood Cemetary in Ottawa in the Fall.

When you asked Peggi how she was doing her go to line was:  “I am not as good as I want to be but not as bad as I could be”

The family would like to thank all the staff at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock for the wonderful care while she was living in the residence.  She always told me how wonderful and caring they were to her.

We wish to extend our deepest, heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the family.

Peggi certainly lived an extraordinary and colourful life, living life to the fullest and travelling in many different places around the world, with life's innumerable twists and turns. Peggi's glass was 'always' more than half-full. She was a true optimist. She saw the best in everyone. She was an amazing, loyal and uplifting friend. Peggi certainly left an indelible mark on my life. I was truly blessed to call her my friend. I will miss her immensely. May she rest in eternal peace.
