With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Ashley on Wednesday December 13, 2023, at the age of 39. Surrounded by her loving parents, Daniel and Cheryl, her sister Robyn and fiancé Chris, Ashley’s suffering has finally ended.
Ashley was always a fighter, never giving up. Starting with type 1 diabetes at the age of 12, Ashley dealt with serious medical issues her entire life. From early on to her greatest battle with metastatic breast cancer in March 2023, she never quit the fight.
She underwent many types of treatment to beat this horrific disease and did so with bravery, integrity and grace. She so desperately wanted more time with her family and friends (as we all did, too), and was willing to undergo more chemotherapy, radiation and other treatments to continue fighting.
Ashley’s memory will live on through her parents, sister, future brother-in-law, extended family, friends, and her soon-to-be nephew.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Ashley on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave., Ottawa, ON. The Celebration will begin at 10:00 am with a service for family and friends to share memories, followed by a reception.
The family kindly requests donations to the Diabetes Association of Canada and/or to Breast Cancer Canada, instead of flowers.
Gone too soon, but never forgotten.

I knew Ashley as a friend and I former coach/trainer at Uprise Fit. Ashley was determined, focused and always would tell me during her workout. 'I can do this '. With a smile. She will be missed. My condolences to her family and friends.

My deepest condolences to Ashley’s family and friends on this incredibly painful loss. I will remember Ashley as a kind, pleasant and tremendously smart and competent colleague. I keep thinking back to our last phone call at work, and I’m not sure why I can remember it so well because it was so mundane. But I can still hear her voice in my head, perfectly clearly, and remember how productively and well we worked together. You couldn’t ask for a better colleague.
I know numerous other people will have more personal memories of Ashley, and to them I send my deepest wishes that Ashley’s memory become a source of comfort and blessing in their lives.
Ashley was a bright presence in the world. She will be sorely missed.
Sending my deepest sympathies to the Lemire family. I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of Ashley. I played basketball with her many years ago and still remember her amazing skill on the court and her determination. I have no doubt she fought this terrible disease to the end. Sending you all so much love.
