It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jacqueline (Jackie) Carruthers, (76), of Westport ON, on 9 October 2023. Jackie was born 11 May 1947 to parents (Cynthia and John Walker) in Winnipeg, MB. And graduated from Charleswood Collegiate in (1965). She met her love Ross while working at Eatons where she was a parcel girl and Ross a stock boy, they married on 8 June 1968. Together they navigated the path of a military life, throughout which she would have met many of her lifelong friends. Jackie began her successful career with Welcome Wagon in (1985) and retired as a Regional Sales Director in (2005), when her and Ross settled in Westport, ON and together enjoyed the adventure of travel, fine food and excellent conversation. Along with her husband, Jackie leaves behind two loving sons James (Shirley) and Daniel (Aubrie) and four grandchildren, Caitlin, Josie, Addison and Emmett.  Jackie will be missed by her siblings and close friends. Family and friends are invited to the interment at Beechwood Cemetery (280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa, ON) on Monday, October 16th at 10am followed by a celebration of life.

Jackie was a dear friend and a remarkable woman. She overcame many early obstacles to create a rich and fullfilling life with Ross and her boys. She was a skilled hostess and a woman able to, seemingly effortlessly, produce a gourmet meal. She exceeded her own expectations and rose to great heights in her business life. Meanwhile she was a loving wife to Ross, a devoted mother to her children and grandchildren and a kind and generous friend to all. We will miss her generosity, her ready laugh, her friendly smile and her love of conversation and good debate. Jackie made her mark on her world and will be missed and not soon forgotten. Farewell dear friend.

Jackie was an exceptional woman and a most wonderful friend. Her kindness, love and generosity was limitless. The devotion to her husband Ross, sons James, Dan, their wives and grandchildren knew no bounds. Her business acumen was impressive and she enjoyed a very successful career. Jackie had a quick mind and entertained many with her witty repartees. For those fortunate enough to be invited to dinner, they would always be amazed by her culinary delights. Her boundless energy was graciously shared with the many community volunteer endeavours on which she arduously worked. Au revoir, my dear friend

A dear friend for more than thirty years, and a neighbour at the lake for the last fifteen. Jackie had a generous and loving heart, a dry wit and a great sense of humour. She will be sorely missed.

My late wife, Fae, and I first knew Jackie in Germany in the mid 70s and during other postings. Fae always spoke highly of Jackie as they were much closer. Ross and family, I fully empathize with your loss of Jackie and what her loss means to you.

We met Jackie and Ross in 1981 while serving in Germany. As we were new comers to the Regiment, Jackie was instrumental in making our arrival and settling-in seamless. Our heartfelt condolences to Ross, the boys, the grands and extended family

Dear Jackie was such a wonderful person, she was warm, caring, witty and superb cook.
When we arrived in Germany just at Fallex many years ago with two very young children, she took Priscilla under her wing. The husbands were gone for weeks at a time and she helped Priscilla daily, showing her the ropes and introducing her around. She was such a blessing to depend on. Her dinners were always memorable, not only delicious, but always perfect to the last detail.  Rest in peace dear Jackie, you will never be forgotten.
