It is with immense sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother Betty on Friday, July 28, 2023, in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Robert (Bob) for 60 years. Proud loving mother of Richard, Liz, John (Teresa), Mike (Patti Andrews), George (Kerry) and Kevin (Sue). Loving grandmother to Kyle, Brendan, Ryan, Taylor, Sean and Tara. Predeceased by her parents Magnus and Netta. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Betty’s greatest love was her family and all of her children were proud to call her mom.
Betty was a long time member of the congregation of Rothwell United Church, with much of those years spent as a greeter for Sunday service. Betty was often the first face many saw as they entered the church and will be sorely missed by all who were greeted by her brilliant smile.
It would be wrong to say that Betty lost her battle with cancer, because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was she was always determined. Where anyone else would’ve broken, Betty stayed strong. Through her, we know what resilience and perseverance truly looks like. Just because she’s no longer with us, it does not mean she lost her fight.
On July 28, 2023, Betty got her wings and is now walking with the Angels. We know that we can’t have you, but we’re happy knowing that the angels have finally gotten you back, as you were an angel who walked amongst us. Goodbye to a wonderful woman and a beautiful mother, she is now at rest with her prince once again.
Family and friends may pay their respects at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Saturday, August 5, 2023 after 9:00 a.m. followed by a service in memory of Betty at 10:00 a.m. in the Sacred Space. A reception will follow the service.
In memoriam, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer Society of Canada or Rothwell United Church would be appreciated.

We will forever remember and be grateful for the time we had with Betty, to share that beautiful smile and soft laugh. To share a glass of wine and always the hospitality she and Bob showered on Dave and I. I am so proud to have shared my grandmother duties with her, she is at home now with Robert, safe where she longed to be. God Bless dear friend.
