It is with profound sorrow that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Nana, sister, Aunt and friend, Barbara Elizabeth (Crooks ) Gaston on April 5, 2023 at the Ottawa General Hospital. Barbara is survived by her three sons; David, Brian, Michael (Michelle Phillips ), grandchildren; Ceilidh, Alex, and Amelia, brother, Lawrence, Ancaster, ON, and sister Linda Crooks-Joyce ( George Croft ) St. Albert, AB/ Cole Harbour, NS, and many nieces, nephews and cousins in NS. Predeceased by her husband, the love of her life, Cliff, her parents; Lillian and Lawrence Crooks, sisters; Yvonne DeWolfe, Joan Lalonde and brothers; Bruce Dorey and Harold (Mickey ) Dorey.
Barbara was a very kind and compassionate person which lead to her choosing the nursing field as her vocation in life and later on as a teacher’s aide with the Ottawa School Board. Barbara was an avid shopper, Value Village was where she could be found (with Marg B) as well as most of her treasures!
Visitation will take place at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Service, on Friday, April 28, 2023 beginning at 1 p.m., followed by the interment at 3 p.m.
“When my time in this world comes to an end, gather my friends who knew me best, play some great music, mix glitter in with my ashes and let the wind take me to all the places I never got a chance to see, but most importantly, remember me by living the rest of your life smiling”.
