Louise was suddenly and unexpectedly taken away from us of natural causes on Saturday, January 14, 2023 in the presence of family and the many loving and supportive nursing team members at Riverpath Retirement Community, Ottawa, in her 91st year. Loving mother of John, Daniel, Marc (Valerie), David (Beth), along with seven grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
Born in Chicoutimi, QC to the late Georges Proulx from St-Hyacinthe, QC, and the late Charlotte Côté from La Malbaie, QC. Sister of Robert Proulx (Andrée), and predeceased by brothers Henri (Denise), and Georges Jr.
While working at Alcan in Arvida, QC, she met her future husband, Thomas Christie Arnold, who was from Toronto & Bermuda and deceased April 2016. They married in her hometown of Chicoutimi, QC on October 30, 1954. Together they travelled and lived in numerous cities and countries, with Ottawa becoming a base camp in 1968 from which they raised their four boys.
Louise had a great sense of humour, love of the arts and music, and was a force of nature to those who knew her. Once in Ottawa, she first began working for the National Arts Centre, and then various government departments and agencies, including the Northern Pipeline Agency under the Hon. Mitchell Sharp, and Global Affairs Canada (previously External Affairs) under HB Robinson. The pinnacle of her career was working for ten years as the Executive Assistant to the Secretary General of the Canadian Red Cross George Weber, following which she retired.
Throughout her life and in retirement, she enjoyed cooking, baking, and entertaining family and friends. She had an excellent green thumb and enjoyed tending her gardens and growing her own vegetables. She also enjoyed spending much time at the cottage with her beloved husband Christie. Her life will be fondly remembered and she will be very much missed.

Visitation will be held at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave., Ottawa, ON, on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 commencing at 1 p.m. Words of Remembrance will be delivered from 2 p.m. A private family interment to join her husband will be held in the National Military Cemetery of the Canadian Forces at 3 p.m.

Louise was a positive influence in my life. She taught me how to cook,she even made me a cook book which I still use today. She was always supportive and loving. I know she will be missed by her family. My thoughts and prayers are with Daniel and all of the family

Our deepest condolences to John and the Arnold family on the passing of their beloved Louise. Louise was a lovely person with such a warm smile and heart. She touched us deeply in the short time we were privileged to know her. She will be missed at Riverpath as will John whose regular visits with his mom were also enjoyed by the other residents and family members.
