It is with great sadness that our family announces the death of our dear “Matriarch” Joan Evelyn Drummond, in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late Wesley. Loving mother of Barbara, Gary (Diane), Paul (Jane). Cherished grandmother of Jennifer (Mathew), Andrew (Alizeh), Erin (Robert), Sarah (Stephen), Emily (Daniel) and Michael (Jesslyn); great-grandmother of Jared, Naomi and Mathis.

A lover of flowers, an avid gardener and a long-time employee of Carleton University. A special thanks to the staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital and Chartwell Riverpark Retirement Residence for their care and kindness. A Memorial Service in memory of Joan will be at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa), on Friday, October 28th, 2022, at 1 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions to The Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County would be appreciated.

It was a privilege & honour to have known you Joan. I know you loved gardening but hated those dandelions. Always enjoyed my time with you.

My condolences to Paul, Jane & the Drummond family. We were very fortunate to have Joan as an awesome neighbour on Harkness Ave. for 18 years. I adored Joan & she meant a lot to me. She was a bright light & had a twinkle in her eye. She was very positive & had a great sense of humour. She spoke to me often about Paul & Jane's care; and she was very appreciative of their kindness, and all they did for her. Dear Joan; it was an honour knowing you & thank you for your friendship. Rest in peace & I hope to see you on the other side.
