It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan Henriksen (nee Bramley) in Ottawa on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022. She was a devoted wife to Melvin for 51 years. Upon her arrival to Ottawa in 2003 Susan went to work for the government as a civil servant with DEMEUS. She retired on June 1st, 2016. Susan will be fondly remembered by anyone who knew her as she was a very wonderful and caring person. This was very evident as she donated her blood over 100 times and she donated her organs, the gift of life, as her last wish. Susan was an avid animal lover and she loved to travel. She was truly an amazing person. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, August 9th, 2022 at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services from 11-1pm followed by the funeral service. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Ottawa Humane Society.

Dear Mel
We were pleased to have been able to connect with you and Sue at our friend's golf course for lunch the last time we were in Ottawa. I was looking forward to seeing you both again, in Victoria some time soon. Hearing of her passing, was so sad! There is no easy way to say "Goodbye" to someone you love! Her legacy of organ donation is a gift from her heart...

What can I tell you about my sister-in-law Susan? Susan was a very special lady, one I loved very much and to see her smile was priceless! Sue was quiet but so much fun to be around. I will fondly remember our walks when they came out to visit and then our lunches afterwards. For as fit and trim as Susan was, I was always amazed at the food that girl could pack away and when I'd mention that to her, she would just give me that beautiful smile and say, remember, we are still going to Starbucks!! Susan, I will always cherish our times together and miss you dearly!!
Susan was a kind person. I will miss our exchange of adventure stories. Her love of travel provided many interesting stories for me.
Take care Mel.
My sincerest sympathy.
