Died peacefully in Ottawa, in her 90th year with her family by her side. Beloved wife of the late Major Shirl Peck, RCAF - Ret.
Huguette will have told you she had a wonderful life, 'no regrets'. She was born in Montreal and grew up on the South Shore in Longueuil. Her first job was working at the Royal Trust Company in Montreal. She was extremely active in sports playing tennis, golf, table tennis, sailing, horseback riding and of course figure skating.
It was on an ice rink that Huguette met Shirl. The love of her life and companion for 58 years.
She travelled to Europe with Shirl for his career in the military and they started their family. Air Force life brought joy, travelling to new postings, hosting parties, going to the mess and meeting people. She met so many wonderful people and made lifelong friends. Attending SPAADS reunions over the years was always a highlight in her calendar and an opportunity to reconnect with old friends.
Not content to be a stay at home mum, she volunteered while her 5 children were young and as they grew older, she re-entered the workforce, working for Simpson-Sears in Ottawa and later working in Greenwood for the Department of National Defense.
While in Greenwood, Huguette co-founded the Greenwood Skating Club. Huguette’s passion for figure skating led her to becoming a respected official and dedicated volunteer of Skate Nova Scotia for many years.
She will be dearly missed by all her friends and family.
In Memoriam donations to Multiple System Atrophy research at the Parkinson Society Canada or any charity of your choice is appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in 2023.
