With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on July 12, peacefully at home at the age of 84 surrounded by family. Denise joins Don to continue their adventures together. She will be missed by her son Drummond, daughters Michèle and Sarah (Mike) Abdelnour, grandchildren Alexandra, Victoria, Eric, Glenn, Jordy and Matthew, and great-grandchildren Chloe and Lila. Her sense of adventure led this prairie girl from rural Manitoba to Europe, Africa and most recently through Central America. The stories of her adventures will remain with us forever. She will be so missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 10:00AM. An interment will follow in the National Military Cemetery. For those not able to attend the service in person, you are welcome to attend the service through a livestream broadcast to celebrate the incredible life of Denise. To register for the livestream, please click on the link above to register.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Denise’s name to the Ottawa Heart Institute or the Ottawa Humane Society.

Dearest Denise
You’ve been a dear friend, watching me grow through childhood, celebrating my marriage and welcoming my daughter. Your vibrant spirit will stay with me always, as will the fond memories of laughter, mushroom soup sandwiches and early evenings spent listening to the loons and sharing stories.
Yours was a truly formidable life and I am blessed to have been a small part of it. May you now enjoy a drink or two with Don and Johnny as you watch over us.
Bob Joyce
My condolence to the family. Niecy was a long time friend from back in the Giroux days.

Sincere condolences to your entire family. Denise and Don were such good neighbors for 33 years and we enjoyed many good chats over a cup of tea. Miss them both but they are together again. May they rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear that Denise had passed. I will always remember her from the time our families spent together at Base Gagetown and then again as an adult in Ottawa at Christmas and New Year’s. Her sense of adventure and laugh will be missed by all the Baskerville family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Rob is a fellow RMC cadet friend of Don. Dear Denise is a longtime realtor friend of Theda. We share many family memories. Our love to Drummond, Michele, Sarah and families. RIP
My sympathies to Michele and family. Although I did not know her, the stories I’ve heard about your mother were wonderfully inspiring. Take care.
