It is with great sadness that the family of J Maurice Lavoie announce his peaceful passing at Elizabeth Bruyere Hospice on April 16, 2022. Predeceased by his wife Joyce (nee Eason) on March 31, 2020.
He is survived by his brothers Roger and Marcel; his children Deborah, Maurice, and Raymond; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Maurice was a military veteran that served in South Korea during the Korean war as a member of the Royal 22nd Regiment of Canada. He was also a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, serving as president of the Richmond branch for a time. He was a black belt in Judo, and also enjoyed shooting pool, as well as playing card games like Cribbage and Euchre with his wife. Humble in demeanor as well as giving and loving, his attitude in life was that "we'd do the best we can with what we've got". He will be deeply missed.
A Graveside Military Service will be held at the National Military Cemetery of Beechwood, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 1:00 PM. Vehicles are to assemble at the main reception building between 12:30 and 12:45 p.m.

To Moe and family,
We are so sorry to hear about your Dad’s passing. Sending our deepest condolences to you all.
Your Dad was a very sweet man. I would love when your Mom and him would come to visit us in Newfoundland.
He was indeed a very proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He would always attend any events they were holding during his stay with us and he told many stories about his involvement with them. I could tell it meant a lot to him.
I will forever cherish the memories I have of both your Dad and Mom.
I pray that the Lord will comfort and strengthen you all in the days to come.
Thoughts and prayers,
Cousin Margaret and David

Condolences to all the family, he was a good man, never asked for anything and always gave all he could to help one, never asking for anything in return. God bless!

You were the best father-in-law I could ever have. You were always there to help whenever we needed, even if it was to lend an ear, to play a tune on your accordion, or to tell a joke to make us groan with laughter. You deeply loved your grandkids and taught them so much (and no, we can't touch our nose with out tongue like you, hahaha). You will be very deeply missed. Rest in peace.
