It is with great sadness, we are announcing the sudden and unexpected passing of Dragica (Carol) Cowley, at the Civic Hospital on February 18, 2022. Beloved wife of Hartley, mother to Ricky and several step-children, Baka to Zachary and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters Georgie and Nada and brother Jurica (Ljerka) all of Croatia and brother Zlatco (Ljubica) of USA. Left to mourn are her many nieces, nephews and numerous friends (too many to mention). She is predeceased by her sons Danny and Ivan.
Dragica was born in Croatia in 1939 and came to Canada as an immigrant in 1960, where she raised her family and worked as a health care worker until her retirement. She will be remembered as a very caring, generous and loving person to all the people in her life. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service and Mass will be held at Canadian Martyrs Parish (100 Main St. Ottawa) on Friday, April 8th, 2022 at 10am.

I won't forget the early morning she was taken by the ambulance. Last summer, she told me, she couldn't imagine herself in senior housing because she cooked, cleaned and backed testy biscuits. Since Pangamic was a side-by-side neighbor, we always had our distance chat. Pandemic developed loneliness and depression; however, as we all were recovering, We as neighbors were dreaming of having BBQs and charts and and and... We all were in shock and awe. We were deeply sad. Mr. Hart was deeply hurt and my kids could not believe it. We will always remember her. Peace be upon her soul she was a great person.
My deepest condolences to all of Carol’s family, especially Hart. Carol was a wonderful woman, a kind and generous friend to my mom and dad. So many beautiful gifts: a genuine listener, an empathetic nurturer, a talented cook and baker. I hold fond memories of vacations in Florida, a cruise, visits in Ottawa and son many wonderful meals.
