On Saturday, February 19th, 2022, Jean Maxwell Scott peacefully passed away and is now reunited with her beloved Jack and many others in heaven.
Born on July 6th, 1922, Jean was raised by the seaside in Portobello, Scotland. Jean loved to share her fond memories of playing down at the beach for hours on end. Jean lived the classic twentieth century experience. Between 1942 and 1947 she served her country as a member of the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force. She met the love of her life, Jack Scott, at the Cavendish dance hall who was smitten with her from the start. They were married in 1950 and emigrated to Canada in 1952. Together, they built a wonderful life in Canada and were blessed to celebrate sixty years of marriage together.
Jean enjoyed all that life had to offer and was very active in her church as well as the Order of the Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron of the Capital City Chapter.
Jean took her greatest joy from spending time with her cherished daughter, Caroline (Carrie), son-in-law David and much adored grandchildren Joshua and Sarah. Sunday dinners, birthday celebrations and holiday events were spent creating lasting memories and passing on traditions. Jean took great pride in Joshua and Sarah’s accomplishments and was always so very proud of their achievements. David was her knight-in-shining armor, always there to lend a hand, resolve an issue or provide a drive. Jean had a special place in her heart for her family and she has left one in ours.
A private family interment will be held in the spring.
In the words of the Scottish poet Robbie Burns
Farewell, though fair day, thou green earth, and ye skies,
Now gay with the broad setting sun;
Farewell, loves and friendships, ye dear tender ties,
Our race of existence is run!
