It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Claire on Wednesday August 4th, 2021 at the age of 76 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Loving mother of her daughter Donna DeSousa (Nat). Claire loved her two grand-daughters Alexia and Ellie. She will also be greatly missed by her sister Jeanette (Murray); her many nieces and nephews, friends and colleagues. She was predeceased by her idolized big brother Gerald (Rachel) and her loving parents Rolland and Elizabeth Huard.
Claire had a rewarding career for over 30 years at the Bank of Canada and in retirement ventured on to try a career with TD Bank and then OC Transpo.
Claire loved to smile and laugh, sing and dance, cook for others and bowling. People were naturally drawn to her. Her genuine spirit was unmatched by her generous heart.
A special thank you to the staff at the Madonna Care Home for their wonderful care.
A visitation will be held at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue on Thursday, August 19th, 2021 at 9:00 am followed by a Funeral Service at 10 am in the Sacred Space of Beechwood. Interment to follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Canadian Breast Cancer Society of Canada.
Due to Covid restrictions please pre-register your attendance for the visitation and/or funeral service of Claire as attendance will be limited. Masks and physical distancing required.

Boy we had some good times and in case you ever think I forgot I also remember the very toughest time in my life and how you were there for me even though you did not understand much about addiction. You saved my life sweet friend and after that I was blessed to meet and marry John because of you in some fashion. Well he went ahead of you last October 25th so catch up with him there sweetie. He will take care of you because that’s just the way he was. Lots of Love Cory
