It is with deep love and sorrow that her friends announce the death of Anne Jolicoeur on April 19, 2026. A tragic series of medical crises occurred while she was at her second home in Cozumel, Mexico in December of last year. For four months after she was brought home to Ottawa, she faced increasingly challenging medical developments that ultimately proved too much for her to bear. She died peacefully with friends by her side.

A vibrant woman who lived life with unbridled passion, enthusiasm and determination, Anne will be remembered by her many friends, relatives, and co-workers as an intelligent, curious, kind, generous and fun-loving person. She was a devoted friend who was always available to help out whether it was a drive to or from the airport or a greater challenge. Anne was always at the ready. An expert scuba diver, Anne was most in her element when travelling the world especially to dive in interesting and exotic locations. She purchased a condo in Cozumel a few years ago and alternated her diving expeditions between this new home base and continuing to travel the world for adventure and to dive.

Beloved daughter of the late Liliane Jolicoeur and the late Rhéal Jolicoeur, Anne is survived by her brother Jean-Marc, sister Helen Adie, and sister Louise Scully, as well as many other family members in Canada and the United States. Anne had a large circle of friends, for many of whom she was a guiding force and inspiration. Her absence will be keenly felt.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes out to everyone who was there for Anne in her final months. We would especially like to recognize the dedicated staff of the Social Work, Nephrology, and Supportive and Palliative Care programs at The Ottawa Hospital, General Campus, as well as Andrea Sekula, Specialized Liaison Nurse for Costamed Hospital Cozumel.

In respect of Anne’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Friends are planning a party to celebrate Anne that will take place in the summer or early fall. Details will be announced via Facebook.

I am still in shock at the news. Although I had not seen Anne for many years, Anne left a positive impact and memories in every life she touched. The world lost a good one.

My sincere condolences to Anne's family and friends. Anne and I worked at the NGC together, including through the 2001 strike. I will always remember her strong voice, and care for others. Her presence will never be forgotten. May you rest in peace dear Anne.

I’m shocked to learn this. I knew Anne from the many jazz events she attended. I am so very sorry that we’ve seen the last of Anne’s light, which shone wherever she went. My deepest condolences. - Betty Ann Bryanton

My heartfelt condolences to Anne’s family and friends. It is truly shocking and sad- especially given Anne’s zest for life itself. Such a beautiful person. Rest in peace.

My sincere condolences to Anne's family and friends. I had the good fortune to have known Anne as a colleague and friend. Anne was a great pro and mentor in the field of travelling exhibitons, at CMCP. She freely shared her knowledge and advice with me as I took on similar responsibility at another federal cultural institution.
Anne had a wonderful sense of humour and laugh. Perhaps my fondest memory I have was during a visit to her office at CMCP's new office, with its big window, adjacent to the Rideau Canal locks at Parliament Hill. As yet another boater came through the locks she commented on his appearance and interrupted our meeting to call - alert -her other colleagues about the boater who would soon be passing by their office windows as well. What a hoot! Thank you Anne.

I loved Anne dearly and I’m still coming to terms with her death. I will forever remember the wonderful time we had with her at her home in Cozumel. She touched so many people around the world, she was one of a kind.

Anne was one of the first people I met when, fresh out of grad school, I started at the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography at Tunney’s Pasture. She was a generous and caring colleague, passionate about her work in travelling exhibitions and dedicated to the CMCP team. Over more than a decade we had many lively conversations, sharing stories of family and observations about life. It is so very sad that Anne is no longer with us. I will remember her laugh, her great humanity and her intelligence.

Anne and I connected strongly In our adolescent years, in the early 70's. We were students at Belcourt High School, where we had adopted a somewhat rebellious persona. I fondly remember our endless phone conversations, late into the night: civil and women's rights, the counterculture movement, emancipation for all, the arts, literature and music scenes... our hungry young minds had much to explore! Not to mention our discovery of love and its many splendid facets... Dearest Anne, we kept in touch during our adult years ; my daughter Sonia and myself often visited you in your lovely Bolton Street adobe. As of late, health issues (on my part) made our encounters rarer, alas... Your sudden departure leaves me utterly bereft, as you were for me a symbol of Life lived at its fullest... Adieu, ma belle amie, je t'aime pour toujours...
