Charles Mwewa, 49, a beloved husband, father, brother, and son, sadly passed away on May 6, 2025, to be with the Lord, after a life richly lived with love, kindness, compassion, and boldness. Charles was married to Clarice for 22 years and leaves behind three daughters, Emmerance, Tashany, and Cutera. Charles was known for tirelessly and confidently representing his clients in law. He was never at a loss for words and, as a result, wrote more than 150 books. He was adventurous and daring, always seeking unique activities during vacation. He was a very proud father, Christian, intercessor, poet, novelist, and practitioner of the Law. He loved God unconditionally, but also loved his wife and children, and took pride in that. Through his ample knowledge and wisdom, he touched and changed the lives of many locally and internationally by mentoring and educating people in Law, Christianity, prayer, and every genre of life. He was a rare kind and will forever be missed! But we rejoice knowing that heaven has truly gained !

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario. A Funeral Service will follow Friday, May 23, 2025 at 1:00 p.m., followed by the burial and reception, also at Beechwood.

Professor Charles Mwewa was more than just a pastor to me; he was like a father, adopting me as his son, nurturing me, and shaping me into the person I am today. I will forever be grateful to God for the impact he has had on my life through Dad Charles. He taught me how to be a man and how to persevere, even in the toughest of circumstances.

In my heart, I still believe he is with us. I am committed to honouring his legacy and making him proud. Thank you for believing in me and instilling a love for God, prayer, and studying law, for reading and writing books. You motivated me to write 43 books in just 7 years. I now understand why I hesitated to publish them. It’s time to begin that journey. I appreciate your guidance in editing my manuscripts and for writing the foreword for me. Until we meet again, farewell Dad.😭😭😭💔💔💔

My Heart is aching, Charles. I can’t find words. A song keeps coming to heart “Our God is near and knows”

My sister and I are his nieces. I resemble him in some ways, especially as a book author. Two years ago, I created a cartoon comic and shared it at my school, and everyone liked it. I was so proud of that moment, and I often thought about how Uncle Charles would have reacted to it. His encouragement meant the world to me, and I wish I could have expressed that to him when he was still with us.

Uncle Charles, you will be missed dearly by all of us. Your stories, your laughter, and the wisdom you shared will always hold a special place in our hearts. I hope you can see this and are proud of me, and I’m sorry I didn't tell you sooner how much your passion for writing inspired me. Congratulations on your books! Your legacy will live on through your words and the memories we all cherish.

Enjoy your time in heaven, where I am sure you are surrounded by all the beauty you always spoke about. May the Lord, Jesus, God, and all of us bless you as you rest peacefully. I can’t help but smile thinking about the conversations we could have had about our favorite stories and characters. I hope to carry on your passion for storytelling and share it with others, just like you did.

In case you don't remember, I'm Carel Akpan, but you can call me FLIPY as a nickname. I will forever treasure our moments together, and I promise to keep pursuing my dreams with the same dedication and love that you showed in your writing. Rest well, Uncle Charles. You will always be in my heart.

Condolences to your family, Clarice and your daughters on the sudden passing of Charles. Had the opportunity to have him as my Paralegal Instructor and as a colleague in the legal industry. The news of your passing comes as a shock. I hope you God will ease your family heart during this difficult time and may you rest in peace Charles !

It was my unparalleled experience to have existed in the same space over a very brief period with Prof. Charles Mwewa which I will cherish for the rest of my life. Gone too soon but has left a legacy to last into eternity through his family, friends and books..

What else to say but thank you Charles. From Hillcrest to University of Zambia, our common love for books made us close. We shared prayer and talked to God about our dreams. Rest in His Glory. As my book which we talked about for so long finally goes online this year, you will have more than a small footprint in it.
