It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Yvan Jacques, who died in Ottawa on February 2, 2026, at the age of 89. He was the husband of Denise Gendron and the son of the late Lucienne Lessard and the late Adrien Jacques.
He was preceded by his brother André, as well as his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pierrette and Lindor Brodeur.
He is survived by his wife, Denise, his children, André (Julie Couture), Isabelle (Barry Nesrallah), Louis-Philippe (Sophie Robitaille), and Marie-Ève (Marc Smith), and his grandchildren, Hugo, Thomas (Jayme), Nicolas (Ana), Alexandre (Charlotte), Gabrielle, and Charlotte.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law Marie-Andrée (Harry) and brother-in-law Benoît (Gail), as well as many nieces and nephews and cherished lifelong friends.
After receiving his degree in agricultural sciences in Oka in 1961, he held several administrative positions. He obtained his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 1969. He was part of the first cohort of graduates from the University of Sherbrooke's cooperative program and was the first president of the Quebec MBA Association.
Yvan then pursued his career as a civil servant at the provincial and federal levels.
In September 1991, he received the Order of Agricultural Merit. Belonging to the great family of agronomists has always been an honor for Yvan.
Yvan lived life to the fullest. He had a larger-than-life personality that lit up every room he entered, and he knew how to bring joy and happiness to everyone he knew. We will miss his infectious laugh and warm smile immensely. He was a loving husband for 63 years and a remarkable father and grandfather.
