Passed away peacefully at the Bruyère Palliative Care Unit, Ottawa, ON, in his 91st year.
Cherished husband of the late Marjorie Edna Colwell (nee Smith), devoted father of Kathryn (John Dunn) and Janice (Wayne Crozier). Dear grandfather to Ryan (Christy), Cam (Erin), Andrew (Maryn) and Erin (Matt). Dearest GP to Hunter, Reagan, Ivy, Tanner, Agnes, Leo and Maeve. Dear brother to Arlene (Harold Toole), brother-in-law to Ruby (Gary Purdy) and uncle to his nieces and nephews: Patti, Joy, Dwight, Jason and Shannon, Anne, Ruth, Jon, Dan and Susan. Predeceased by his parents Alta (née Clark) and Arnold, by his brother Chris and by his brother-in-law Paul Smith.
Fondly remembered by the Howes, the Gervais’, Jodi from New Market, friends and colleagues, and the third-floor residents of the Willowbend Retirement Home.
You will be missed.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation reception on Wednesday, August 14th at Beechwood Cemetery and Funeral Home (280 Beechwood Ave. Ottawa, ON) at 9:30am followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00am and the interment thereafter.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bruyère Palliative Care Unit in Ottawa.

Oh, I miss our visits and intense political debates amoungst other subjects. No subject was taboo or too small. Darrell you were a distinguished gentleman, you valued and deeply loved your family . Rest and be with your Marjorie.
