Peacefully with his family at his side on May 26, 2023 at the age of 87 in Ottawa Ontario. Son of the late Germaine (née Lapointe) and the late Harold Muir. Widower of his beloved wife of 52 years, Jean Alice (née Turner).
He is survived by his son Michael J. Muir (Mary Elizabeth) and daughter Katherine (Doug Smith). Cherished grandfather to Conner, Brooke, Morgan and Kayla. Ron was the eldest of four children and leaves behind his three sisters Katherine, Marie, and Jacqueline.
Ron graduated from Royal Military College in Kingston and the University of Toronto with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Ron worked his entire career for Honeywell and its predecessor organizations as an engineer who worked his way up to the plant manager for multiple manufacturing plants in Canada.
We have lost a father, a grandfather, a brother, a brother-in-law, an uncle, a friend and the rock and caretaker of so many in our family. His memory will live in our hearts and inspire us for the rest of our lives. He will be deeply missed by his family, relatives and many friends.
Friends and family are invited to visit the Sacred Space of the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood ave. Ottawa on Friday June 2, after 9 a.m. Memorial Service will be held at 10 a.m. followed by a reception in his honour.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Canadian Cancer Society, an organization Ron and Jean felt strongly about.

Ron was great uncle . When I visited the Smith Falls cottage, he would teach me how to fish in Otter Lake, how to start a boat motor, and not to be afraid of the many crab fish at the beach shore of the lake. Very friendly and a role model. I for sure will miss him.

My sympathies and condolences to Ron’s family. I had the pleasure of golfing with Ron and Jean on occasion and always enjoyed the time I spent with them.
Heartfelt condolences, Kathy, to you and your family.
