Ron Eady (85) passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Ottawa General Hospital in the early morning hours of February 13th, 2026 following complications brought on from pneumonia.

Born in Pembroke Ontario, Ron was an accomplished athlete in his youth and enjoyed taking part in school activities from acting in plays, writing and taking photographs for the school paper, public speaking and was even the valedictorian when he graduated from Holy Name school. His love for education and storytelling continued and after graduating from Windsor University, Ron became an outstanding, award-winning history teacher at several high schools in Ottawa. He spent the majority of his career at Glebe Collegiate Institute, then retired from Canterbury High School in 1997.

Ron was a world traveler having visited many interesting and historical places throughout the globe. He was also a knowledgeable outdoorsman as well as an avid cyclist and kept up with this passion his whole life, reluctantly making the move to an E-bike at around the age of 80. People were in awe of Ron and his ability to just keep living a good and active life on his own terms.

Ron met the love of his life, Nicole (née Lalande) in 1965 and they were married in 1967. They moved to Germany for a two-year teaching contract on the Canadian Air Force Base in Lahr and had their first child, a beautiful daughter named Marie-Josée Monique in 1969. After returning to Canada, they settled in the East end of the city and had their second child, a son named Pierre Mackenzie in 1971. Fatherhood came naturally for Ron. He without a doubt proved to be a loving, caring, attentive and giving father.

Ron is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years Nicole, his loving son Pierre, his cherished grandchildren Mia, Kolton and Dylan, as well as his younger brother Bob (Eileen). He also leaves many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Clayton and Mary and his daughter Monique (Darrell).

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, the 26th of April, 2026 at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Please feel free to contact his son Pierre at peady0012@gmail.com with any questions or to confirm your attendance.

Many thanks to everyone who enriched Ron’s life with your friendship and love!
