It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Robert George Bruce, age 91, on Monday, October 23, 2023, with his devoted wife, Flordeliza, “Pumpkin”, right by his side. Robert's departure leaves an indelible void in the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. Robert's legacy of love and dedication is survived by his loving wife, Flordeliza “Pumpkin”, as well as daughter, Yvonne, two grandchildren, one brother, sisters, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends. He was a man whose heart knew no bounds, and his influence extended far beyond his immediate family.
Robert was an unwavering pillar of support for both his family and his cherished church community and was one of the founding members of Ottawa East SDA. His dedication and commitment to the Church will forever be remembered, and his impact on the spiritual lives of those around him will continue to resonate.
In England, Robert began his career as a bus driver, cultivating his passion for transporting people and connecting with communities. His journey led him to Ottawa, Canada, where he continued to fulfill his love for driving at OC Transpo for nearly 23 years, ensuring the safe and reliable transportation of countless individuals throughout the city. Beyond his professional life, Robert was known for his warm heart and vibrant spirit. He cherished moments spent with family and friends, often enjoying a good game of dominos that brought everyone together in laughter and camaraderie.
We invite you to join us in celebrating Robert's remarkable life and to bid farewell to a remarkable man who touched countless hearts. A Thanksgiving Service in his honor will take place on Sunday, November 12th, 2023, at the Ottawa East SDA Church, located at 194 Prince Albert Street, beginning at 10AM. Private interment will follow on Monday, November 13th, at 10AM at Beechwood Cemetery. It will be a moment of quiet reflection as we lay Robert to rest, honoring his memory and the lasting impact he had on all of us.

As we convey our Deepest condolences to the Bruce Family, It saddens our heart to know they will no longer be seen or heard. He enjoyed life and lived it well. He was a very proud Jamaican who served us and our community well and will be on the minds of the many he has touched in different ways.
We will remember his community spirit and volunteering as Treasurer for the Jamaican (Ottawa) Community Association Inc. We thank him for his contribution to the J(O)CA community as a proud Jamaican. He was loved by his family and many friends.
As we celebrate this well lived life of another Jamaican Nationals, it will bring joy to us knowing that we have enjoyed some great times with him over the many years as Members of the J(O)CA Inc Community. The Jamaican Ottawa Community have benefitted from his work and contributions in many ways. , May the sympathy of others and their precious memories helps to comfort us- at this time of celebration our caring thoughts are with you all May his souls rest in peace.
