It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Patrick, surrounded by family and close friends, on April 2, 2022, at the age of 59. Patrick will be forever missed by his son Joseph, cherished by his siblings Anne (Armand), Laurence, the late Kelly, and Una (Steve), treasured by his niece Katherine (Shervin) and grand-nephew Aiden, his close friends Kathy and Jim, as well as his large extended family and many friends.

Son of the late Alfred and Una (née Kelly), Patrick was born in Grand Rapids, Manitoba and raised in the Ottawa/Gatineau area. He was a skilled translator and language advisor at the Government of Canada’s Translation Bureau for more than 20 years. Patrick loved blues, folk, and rock music, and enjoyed live concerts and playing the guitar, mandolin, and harmonica. For more than a decade, he was a well-known music journalist and a radio host and producer of CHUO 89.1 FM’s ‘Midweek Blues’ show, which featured music and live interviews with local musicians and blues legends alike. He was also passionate about soccer and motorsports.

Many thanks to the staff at Oakpark and the Ottawa General Hospital for their compassionate care and support. Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Patrick’s memory to the Canadian Liver Foundation (https://liver.ca) or Blues in the Schools (https://blues.org/blues-in-the-schools/). A celebration of life will be held on May 28, 2022 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Irene’s Pub, 885 Bank Street, Ottawa.

Our deepest sympathy on the loss of Pat. He was a lovely man who always had a kind word for Jim's little sister. He was so easy to be around because, with Pat, you just knew you were going to laugh out loud together. We will forever be grateful for those memories. Our thoughts are with you, Joseph, Anne, Laurence and Una.
