Parviz was born in Tehran, Iran to Hormoz and Behjat and had a fun childhood with his younger brother Kamyar. Early on he developed a love for the outdoors and astronomy in the mountains of Savadkouh. His studies and career in the Navy fit his adventurous nature as he voyaged to places that few people have, from Scandinavian countries to remote islands in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
He spent the second half of his life proudly in Canada where he was devoted to his family and continued to pursue his passions both individually and with his beloved partner in crime of 41 years, Henga Nayeri. He traveled to many more places, both in person and through his favourite stories like Star Wars & Lord of the Rings. Though an Engineer, he was always an artist at heart. From a toy-maker, to painter, to sculptor and creative art of all sorts, his creations were often a topic of conversation. His green thumb kept the neighborhood squirrels well-fed.
His life was based on the Zoroastrian saying “Pendare Nik, Goftare Nik, Kerdare Nik – Good Thoughts, Good Words, & Good Deeds.” His life motto was “It’s beautiful” which was his best attempt at expressing his love and gratitude for everyone and everything. His witty and impromptu remarks never failed to entertain and his endless imagination found an answer to any situation or question. One of his other favourite sayings was “I’m from the planet earth, where are YOU from?”.
His kindness and imagination had a lasting impact on all those who crossed his path and are reflected in his daughters, Kiana, Leila and his son-in-law, Joel Ciravolo. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, Theodore and Olivia, who always thought Glampa could fix anything. Believe us, Home Depot & Canadian Tire stock price will drop. His brother, Kamyar; sisters in law, Parnaz and Gita; brothers in law, Reza Matine and Benoit Lebeau; nephews, Shahin and Jonathan; and many cherished friends will also continue his vision of life. Without his physical presence on this planet, there is going to be a void in many hearts. No doubt, he is making our loved ones on the other side laugh.
We are grateful to the Ottawa General Hospital and, Lorry Greenberg Cancer Centre for their compassionate and professional care during the last 17 months of his life. In his generous nature, he donated his corneas, the priceless gift of sight, perhaps others can continue to see through his beautiful outlook. As his Oncologist, Dr. S. Brule summed it up, “He was a gem of a man”.
May the force be with you. Always.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 5th, 2023, at the Nepean Sailing Club (3259 Carling Avenue, Nepean, ON), from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30pm, followed by a Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Ottawa Food Bank.

Parviz was one of a kind, he wore his heart on his sleeve and his kindness in his eyes. His incredible sense of humour was unmatched by anyone I have ever had the pleasure of calling friend, he owns a piece of my heart and I will remember him always as one of the best people I ever met.
Love to all xo

We had lots of fun going thru trips together. SteamBoat, San Francisco (where we ran out of money 3000 miles away from the school), San Diego, Tijuana, etc. It was topped off by a trip right thru the Central Desert in Iran in an open four-wheel drive using pilot's goggles. As we entered a small village somewhere in the desert, people were looking at us as if we have just entered from another plant. He has a heart of gold, wherever that he lives.

I was deeply saddened to hear about Parviz passing. He was such a remarkable person. I am grateful for the memories we shared together during our time in Montreal. Parviz presence brought so much joy and positivity to the lives of the people around him. He'll be greatly missed, but his memories are alive. One memory that stand out to me is his saying " we are all tourists here." He had a way of making even the simplest moment memorable with joy. Hengameh, please accept my deepest condolences and may you find strength and comfort in his memories we all hold dear.
My condolences to dearest Henga and the family, for sure he was a unique man and his sense of humor is not forgettable. May your beautiful memories help you to pass this difficult time.
