Michel Demarbre passed away suddenly on November 12th, 2023 at the age of 80.  He is survived by his son, Lee (Cheryl) and grandchildren Anna and Max.  He was predeceased by his wife Christine Demarbre (née Greene) in 2019.  "Papa Mike" was a devoted father and grandfather who loved to tell stories and jokes, entertain children with magic tricks and feed cheese to Ahsoka and all of the neighbourhood dogs.

Mike was born on June 11, 1943 in Quebec and grew up in a loving home with his parents, Thérèse and Armand, and his siblings Monique, Jean-Claude, Francine, Huguette, Suzanne, Serge, Mimi, Johanne and Danielle.  He joined the military while he was still a teenager and spent many years stationed in locations around the world before becoming an RCMP officer from 1986 until his retirement in 2003. Mike enjoyed socializing with his family, friends and colleagues with a good beer in hand.

Inurnment will be held on December 28, 2023 at Beechwood Cemetery at 2pm, followed by a reception at Beechwood National Memorial Centre at 2:30pm.  We welcome everyone to join us in celebrating Mike's life.

Sincere condolences to family. I will always remember his friendly and caring personality whenever I met with him throughout the years. During a course at the Canadian Police College in the 90’s an FBI agent asked if I could arrange a tour of Parliament. I contacted Mike who was on duty on the Hill and he not only arranged for a tour but he had the Agent sit in the Speakers chair for a photo. RIP Mike.

Am so sorry for your loss, Lee. How I would've loved to have met your father. May he be in a better place and may you meet again in the next life.
