After a courageous battle with cancer, Marc Edmund Becker passed away peacefully at their home in Kanata, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 16th.
Marc was born in Trenton, ON to Hildegard and Edmund Becker. He was raised on a farm and learned to love the land, the trees, and nature. His childhood was spent learning the laws of the land, the particulars of farming, and enjoying his family home in Smithfield with his older brother Chris, and younger sisters Gina and Michele. He was inspired to follow in his father’s footsteps and chose Glen Robertson to build his farm and raise his family.
Marc lived in awe of all of God’s many creations, and he practiced gratitude daily. He had immense love in his heart for his parents, his family, his children, grandchildren, his farm, and Kathleen. That love extended to his many friends especially his dear family friend Shelley Carrier, and his life coach and mentor, David Lindsay.
He was happiest at the farm, either sitting out on the deck on a Sunday morning drinking a coffee or spending time roaming the farm acreage on the four-wheelers with his partner, children and grandchildren or sitting around the campfire listening to country music. He loved to laugh, and he loved to make others laugh. Marc was an amazing son, brother, father, grandfather, friend, and partner. He will be missed greatly by all.
Marc is dearly loved by his partner, Kathleen, his parents, Hildegard and Edmund (deceased) Becker and his children Ryan Becker (Lisa), Kaitlyn Becker (Keegan), and Jordan Becker and his grandchildren Trent, Kira, and Nash Becker. He was a devoted brother and is survived by Chris Becker (Lynda), Michele Becker (John Pedari) and Gina Becker (Tracey). Loving uncle to his treasured nieces and nephews. Donations in lieu of flowers and in memory of Marc may be made to Saint Finnan’s Cathedral or The Ottawa Hospital.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 24, 2022, from 2-4 and 7-9 at Beechwood Funeral Home, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 400 St. Laurent Blvd., Ottawa followed by a reception from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Beechwood Funeral Home, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa.

My deepest sympathies to Kathleen, Ryan, Kaitlyn, Jordan and family.
I met Marc back in 1981 at the University of Guelph as we were both enrolled in the Ontario Agricultural College. What great times we had in our University years and what a fantastic friendship that flourished over the years! As Marc was living in Glen Robertson and Ottawa distance kept us from visiting as often as we would like. We keep in close touch and supported each other through life's ups and downs. We would regularly talk about family, relationships, friends, careers and leisure activities. We shared many, many great times!
Gone far too soon, but will never be forgotten. Rest in eternal peace my friend!

Our condolences to all on your great loss. Marc was a cheerful (and frequent) presence at our place for some 20 years, taking care of our house and property as if it were his own. We will miss those long, meandering chats.

Sending my love & compassion to Ryan, Kaitlyn, Jordan & families for your broken hearts from this great loss in your lives.
As a fellow OAC83A Dipper I remember Marc as such a fun, energetic & friendly guy. As a group of young agriculture students we had many adventures & misadventures and Marc was always a fun & good-hearted participant. Those were some great years.
In 2004, we as a family (Scott, David, Renee, Stacey & myself) came to visit your family on the farm, on our way back from the East Coast. It was sweltering hot & our families spent the weekend taking turns sitting in the big blow-up kiddie pool on the deck, sharing food, drinks, old stories & laughter. Marc gave Scott the tour of the farms & barns. Marc was passionate & proud about farming & his work. It was such a nice visit.
Be comforted by the good memories, guided by his wisdom, and soothed knowing the love that he had for you all. He continues to watch over you in Spirit. God Bless You All,,,,,,, Big Hugs to you,,,, Jeannette
