Passed away peacefully at home on November 5, 2023, at the age of 67, with her loving husband Thomas at her side.
Cherished daughter to Thérèse Roy (née Hurtubise). Beloved wife of Dr. Thomas Barkley. Loving mother to Jonathan Côté (Marika) and Stéfanie Huot (Jeff); her two step-children David Barkley (Heather) and Alanna Barkley. Cherished grandmother to Kailyne, Félix, Tristan, Léa, Xavier, Russell, Dylan, Stewart, Christian, Kylie, and Nevaeh.
Dear sister to Jacques Roy (Lynne), Jean Roy (Ginette) and François Roy (Julie). Lise was predeceased by her father, Hertel Roy.
Lise had a beautiful smile that radiated the warmth and openness of her personality. She had many loyal friends. And although small in stature she was feisty and determined to succeed. She was the ultimate multi-tasker.
Lise worked with her husband in his dental practise for twenty-seven years where, as the de facto boss, she was an integral part of the success of the office.
Her first priority was always her cherished family. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother, adored by her brothers, children and grandchildren.
Lise was into fitness and health before it became fashionable. She worked out in her basement with DVD’s on step exercising and kick boxing and eventually on a treadmill and rowing machine.
She loved to play tennis, especially while at her condo in Venice, Florida, where she was a popular player known as the rabbit for her speed and skill. She also enjoyed golf at the Ottawa Hunt and at the Plantation Golf and Country Club. Whether it was playing cards, tennis or golf she lived like she played: grateful for the day, giving all she had and never giving up. She was an amazing model of spirit, kindness and enthusiasm for life.
Lise loved to travel. She and Tom made numerous trips to Europe and the Caribbean and took several cruises.
There will be a celebration of Lise’s life in the spring.

A truly wonderful person. I have great memories of Lise looking after me from 1975 to 2010 at the clinic. Lise always welcomed me like family at every visit. I use to look forward to going to the dentist. Imagine…
Dear Tom: We were so sorry to learn of Lise's passing. Heather kept us posted on the progress of her illness and we can only imagine how difficult for Lise and you to go through that, but she was lucky to have you and other family members with her. We hope that you are getting good support from friends and family. We are making a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in her memory.
