Predeceased by her parents Eleanor (nee Summers) and Sidney Fowler. She will be missed by siblings Sidney Fowler, Patrick Fowler, Tim Fowler and Sherry Toye.

Laurie had a distinguished military career rising through NCM ranks until she was commissioned from the ranks and achieved the rank of Captain. After leaving the military she also had a successful career as an IT Security consultant for DND until she retired.

She will be missed by her family, close friends the Pfinder family (Chrissy, Zack, Chuck and Cora), the Charlebois family (Dianne and George) and her extended family in Manitoba, the McKerchers. Her many interests included travel, movies, reading, gardening, cooking, baking and canning, crafts and holiday gatherings with family and friends. Laurie was a fiercely independent person with a generous and kind-hearted spirit. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

We would also like to thank the many people who cared for Laurie both in her home and in hospital. Their help, understanding and care were instrumental in Laurie’s treatments and comfort over the last several years. The help we have received from the Last Post Fund and Beechwood cemetery has been instrumental in providing critical services, advice and guidance with Laurie’s passing and final resting place in Beechwood Cemetery

If desired donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Last Post Fund or the Ottawa Humane Society.

Laurie was an amazing woman with many accomplishments who lived her life by her own rules unapologetically. She loved to travel and also loved rural life in her home in Vars. She will be missed by friends and family. She was strong and resourceful woman who has left us far too early.

Laurie and I worked together for about two and a half years in CFS Falconbridge at the beginning our our careers. We were best friends and more and it pains me we did not stay in touch. Laurie was such a positive influence on my life and I never got to thank her. Even at the young age of 23 when I last saw her I knew she would make something of her life. Rest In peace my friend.
