It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kevin Whalen, who departed this life on March 27, 2026 at the age of 61. Kevin was surrounded by loved ones during his final days after a long battle with cancer.
Kevin was born on June 26, 1964 in Montréal to Bernard and Marjorie Whalen. From an early age, he demonstrated a strong sense of devotion, loyalty and kindness, qualities that would shape a life devoted to family, friends and military.
Kevin is survived by his loving and devoted wife Valerie (née Vaillancourt), his children Angela and Dryden. He was predeceased by his mother and father. Kevin is also survived by many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Those who knew Kevin will remember him for his dedication to his family, his friends and the Canadian Air Force. As well as his love of campfires, hot tubs and warm vacations.
A military service will be held on April 4, 2026 at Beechwood Cemetery (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, ON), where family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance. Visitation begins at 11 am. The ceremony will commence at approximately 1pm with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association, in honor of Kevin Whalen’s memory.
Kevin will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Valerie, Angela, Dryden and Family.
It was a shock to hear of Kevin's passing. I will remember Kevin as a friend and for his humor, generosity and kindness.
The measure of a man is not - 'How did he die' but - how did he live'. Not 'what he gained' , but what did he give.
A friend is like a pillar on your porch. Sometimes they hold you up, sometimes they lean on you and, sometimes it's just enough to know that they are standing by to help when you need it. That is how I will remember Kevin.
May God bless.

Dear Valerie, Angie & Dryden, may Kevin's memory be a blessing. We will always remember "Angie's dad" as the epitome of strength and playfulness. His warmth, hospitality, wit and sense of humour live on in his children and all of the lives that he touched. Gone too soon but never forgotten.
