The family of Karl Alexander Harold Mills is deeply saddened to announce his passing on May 10, 2024, at the age of 84. Karl was predeceased by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Irene. He will be remembered by his children Katharine (Nicholas Cumming), Stephen, Elisabeth (Paul Williams) and Peter. He was a loving Opa to his grandchildren Joshua, Jakob and Mark. Karl held both an Honors B.A. in experimental physics and an M.A. from Trinity College, Dublin University, as well as an MBA from McGill University in Montréal. He had a brilliant scientific mind, with an aptitude both for abstract mathematics, and for practical mechanics and repairs of all kinds. He was an avid cyclist, a keen reader on many subjects, and a lover of wordplay and dreadful puns. He enjoyed travelling with Irene both in Ontario and abroad, and spending time with his family.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at his funeral mass at St. Albertus Pfarrgemeinde, 416 Parkdale Avenue, Ottawa, on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a reception. He will be laid to rest beside Irene at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre. Donations to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute or the Canadian Wildlife Federation would be appreciated.
