Peacefully on Saturday September 17, 2022, at Granite Ridge Care Community at the age of 87, we lost our shining star. Joy, beloved wife of the late Ian Donald, devoted mother to Jana (Michael) and Scot (Marion) and Nana to her Grandchildren Simon, Jordan, Findley, Iris and Great Grandson Mason. Anyone who knew Joy, knew that nothing was more important and precious to her than family. She will be greatly missed by her sisters, Primrose (late John Paruboczy), Opal (late Theo Kruge) and her sister in law, Annette (late brother, Robin Lindop), as well as her many nieces and nephews whom she cherished deeply. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the staff and volunteers at Granite Ridge for their extraordinary care over the past 7 years. A private celebration of Joy’s life will be held at Beechwood Cemetery on Friday September 23, 2022 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzhelmer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County is greatly appreciated.

I am so sorry for your loss. I never had the pleasure of meeting your mom but I have had the pleasure of having you in my life and I am sure you are a direct reflection of the woman your mom was. May you find strength in the family that supports you during this difficult time. As always Jana, I am sure you will be the rock that all lean on. Wish I could be there myself to support you. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
