It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Pezoulas on Saturday, June 17th, 2023, at the age of 90, after a long battle with Parkinson's. He passed peacefully with his loving wife of 59 years, Efstathia (Effie) by his side. John is predeceased by his parents, Vasilios and Georgia Pezoulas, and his siblings, Tasia Petropoulos (Kosta), Gus Pezoulas, Nicholas Pezoulas and Thanasi Pezoulas. John is survived by his loving wife, Effie Pezoulas, his sisters-in-law, Sonya Pezoulas and Rena Pezoulas, and his brother-in-law Yiannis Tassoulas (Erin). He was a beloved father to Vasilios, Georgia (Christos), and Lambros and a loving grandfather to George and John. John leaves to mourn many loving cousins, nephews, and nieces.

Born and raised in Paradeisia, Arcadia, Greece, John and his family came to Canada in 1951 at the age of 17 to begin a better life. He worked hard alongside his father and brothers and quickly became a much-respected business owner and restaurateur of the Del Mar and the Samuel de Champlain Dining Lounge in Ottawa. John loved his family, community and especially his church and will forever be remembered for his big heart and quick humour.

The family would like to first share a heartfelt thank you to Melinda for all her love and support all these years and, more recently, to all the staff at the Villa Marconi.

Visitation will take place at the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church (1315 Prince of Wales Drive) on Thursday, June 22nd, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery. For those wishing, memorial donations may be made to the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church.

It was a privilege to care for John as someone with a lived experienced of Parkinson and to get to know him as a person. The fond memories of his Summer swims in the Mediterranean sea are eternal. My feelings to the family, Tiago Mestre
