Passed away peacefully at the age of 90 after a short stay in hospital. Pre-deceased by her dearly beloved husband Souheil, her sister Afaf and brothers Naseem and Emile.

World’s greatest mother to Gaith (Yen), Ann, John (Tina), Joe and Gita who was her best friend as well as the most loving caretaker we could have asked for. Adoring grandmother to Jesse (Dee) and Zoe and a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. Over the years, our parents opened their home to many newcomers from Lebanon so that they could build new lives in Canada. Nothing was more appreciated than Mom’s great cooking, providing a taste of home.

Janan was the heart and soul of our family and loved bringing everyone together with massive amounts of food. She was the very best of us and will forever be in our hearts.

Most grateful for the incredible care provided by the doctors and nurses on 3C at Montfort Hospital, and special thanks to Anne Roberts of the Palliative team.

There will be a private family burial.

Please make donations to the Alzheimer Society in lieu of flowers.

Gaith, Ann, John, Joe and Gita. I am so very sorry about the passing of your mom. She was such a warm and generous person, Your house was a second home for me when we were growing up. It was always full of people, both friends and relatives. Your mom made everyone feel welcome and a common theme among the various notes here, her cooking was great and she fed us well. Take care.

My sincere condolences to the whole family.

Our Dear Aunt Janan will be missed by so many family members. I will always remember visiting her with my mom many times before I moved away from Ottawa …
It was years ago but I remember it as if it were yesterday. I was always happy to see her and her huge smile.

Janan and my Uncle Souheil were amazing people - so many will remember how they opened their home to many family and friends. They touched the lives of so many people, so many families. Always giving a helping hand.

They were the glue that held the fabric of life together for so many. Their kindness and compassion and generosity was unmatched in the community.

They were the generation that showed others how to treat their fellow humans with kindness and compassion. They both helped my parents and others - to make a new life here and call Canada our home.
They hosted many dinners and gatherings - made some of the best Lebanese food ever made.

May we cherish the memories we have shared together and pass these on to our families and friends. They will truly be missed !

My prayers go out to the entire Garzouzi family as they cope with their loss at this time …

Love always, xoxo

My deepest condolences to the Garzouzi family. Your Mom was such a warm and friendly person. She made us feel welcome to the neighbourhood and I so enjoyed our many chats. We shared a love of gardening and never ended a conversation without agreeing wholeheartedly that Canada was the most wonderful country to live in! Rest in peace, Janan. I will be thinking of you when I'm out gardening.
