It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Indiana Lopez, in Ottawa, on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the age of 50. Indiana was a beloved mother to Jayna Paquette, who was the light of her life and her greatest joy. Cherished sister of Flavio and Harry Lopez. Loving daughter of Flavio Humberto Lopez Somarriba and Luisa Maria Gonzalez Hidalgo.
She will be deeply missed by so many, including her cousin, Karina Torres, as well as her many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. She shared a special bond with each of them, offering kindness, laughter, wisdom, and unconditional love. Her warmth touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Family and friends are invited to attend Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa), on Thursday, February 26, 2026, for a Visitation from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. followed by an interment at Beechwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.

I truly don’t even know where to begin — my heart is so heavy hearing this news. Indiana, even though I didn’t get to see you often as I grew older, I still carry such clear memories of you from when I was little. I remember coming to your house and being completely in awe of you — especially your hair. I must have been five or six yrs old, and I remember telling my mom that I wanted to grow up and be just like you.
What stayed with me most was your kindness. Your gentle touch, your soft voice, and your beautiful, warm smile made such an impression on my young heart, and those memories have never left me.
To your parents and brothers, I am so deeply sorry for this unimaginable loss. My heart is with you, and I am holding you in my thoughts and prayers.
And to, Jayna, sweetheart — I am praying especially for you. I pray that God surrounds you with strength, comfort, and love in the days ahead, and that you find peace in knowing your mother’s love will always be with you and that she is now resting peacefully.
