George was a wonderful neighbour and friend. He was always there to help me. He would often make tea or coffee and I would tell him he was the best. I will miss him and his funny little stories

Sincere condolences to Barb and family on the loss of George. We have such good memories of the McLaren family from good times as neighbors on Bowmoor Ave. in Ottawa many years ago and from get-togethers more recently. We recall George as having a great sense of humor (playing funny gags with him) and for his handy man and craft skills.

Patricia, we are so sorry for your loss. Big hugs to your Aunt Barb. It's been lovely getting to know her and witnessing your compassion and care of her during this difficult time. xx

I will always remember George for his quiet and kind manner and intelligence, but especially, his enigmatic smile. As a child, I was always fascinated with his unique "projects" and his patience in fostering my interest in them. In particular, I recall: the squirrel he rescued, the lemon tree he grew from a seed, the stereo system he built from a kit,, the cool bunk beds he built for his boys, and the raspberry buses in his backyard. My 3 sons also remember him very fondly and mention the same - his many interesting activities and projects; visiting Barbara and George always held "an adventure" for them. Whether it was the pond he built (they remember the frogs), or the raccoon he trapped and released, they enjoyed every minute. He will be very much missed by many and all, and I will remember him with love and fond memories. Leigh

George was an integral member of Prior Players executive for many years, serving as President, Facilities Manager, and Member-at-large. Even more notable was his role behind the scenes, as set designer, set builder, stage manager, and contraption inventor. Our phones always stopped ringing when they should, the curtains when up and down effortlessly, special effects were special, and on and on and on. George even donned a costume on occasion, usually as a policeman.
And then there was George as just George, always willing to talk, and to help, and eager to invent. I learned a lot, and I miss him greatly
