
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Floyd Fredrick Boettger on 14 April 2026 at the age of 94.
Floyd is predeceased by his parents Frederick Boettger and Maude Arbeau, as well as his siblings Clarence, Bertha and Aileen.
Floyd is survived by his sister, Elizabeth, as well as his wife of 70 years, Patricia. Floyd and Patricia had four children: Evan, Peter, Aileen and Dean; eleven grandchildren: Eric, Lisanne, Alex, Nadia, Eryn, Kaitlin, Dylan, Megan, Sean, Jimena and Joshua; and four great-grandchildren (so far): Jonathon, Xavier, Benjamin and Olivia.
Born and raised in British Columbia, Floyd joined the Royal Canadian Navy during the Korean War, and went on to serve in the Navy for 31 years. After retiring from the Navy, Floyd continued his service to Canada for an additional ten years with the Canadian Coast Guard until finally retiring at the age of 61.
Floyd was a loving and beloved family man throughout his life. Floyd was a consummate gentleman who was admired by all who knew him. His pastimes included Toastmasters, trout fishing, coaching baseball and hockey, ballroom dancing, sightseeing, and spending time with Patricia and their ever-growing family.
Floyd will be laid to rest with military honours at the Beechwood National Military Cemetery in a private family ceremony.
