Fleur-Ange LaFlamme

Fleur-Ange, after leading a full and complete life, passed away peacefully in her 97^th year. Having lost her mother at an early age, FA grew up with seven brothers on a sawmill homestead near the small francophone community of Legal, Alberta. After leaving her convent high school and living in Edmonton, she met a dashing air force pilot, Arthur, who became her husband of 67 years. Fleur-Ange enjoyed life as a military spouse travelling from post to post and along the way had six children. Leaving military life they settled in Gatineau, Québec and Fleur-Ange seized the opportunity to create and build her own business, Magasin Laflamme, Centre du Coupon. Fleur-Ange, despite long hours at the store, successfully completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Ottawa. 

Upon retirement in 1992, Fleur-Ange developed her sense of style and colour into a real passion for painting in water colours. Her paintings depict the beauty she found around her, often featuring the colours and flowers of her Gatineau garden. She reflected her love of family history in a detailed work she produced titled Les Origines de la Famille LeFebvre au Canada.

From their domicile in Gatineau, Fleur-Ange was the centre of an adoring and loving extended family. Predeceased by her father Henri and mother Évelina, her seven brothers, her devoted husband, Arthur, and beloved daughter, Diane McCauley (Ed), Fleur-Ange was a loving and supporting mother to Arthur (Janice), Marie, Beatrice O’Byrne (Terry), David (Darlene), Robert (Shelley) and her 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to visit Beechwood Funeral Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue on May 12, 2023 at 11:00 am with a Service to follow at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Red Cross for the Alberta wildfires would be appreciated.
