Chuck Hum was born on November 14, 1933 in Canton, China. He came to Canada with his Mother when he was 16 years old. They traveled by Air and landed at the Vancouver port of call. Then they proceed by Via Rail to Pembroke, Ontario.

His Father was already in Canada. He operated a Cafe Diner and they all worked together.

After Pembroke, they moved to Eganville and they operated another Cafe Diner.

The Hum family then moved to Ottawa where Chuck married his beloved wife Lai King and together they raised their daughter Doreen. After so many years they still had a special union between the two of them. This is true love.

The couple worked in the food and restaurant business. Chuck was an excellent server for many Asian restaurants. Lai King was an excellent chef for the Marriott Byward Market Holiday Inn.

After a while the couple decided to try their luck, combine their culinary skills together and start their own Cafe Diner. It was called King's Cafe on Bronson Ave. Their entrepreneurship became a huge success. They made a lot of friends in their business and succeeded beyond their expectations.

After 14 years of hard work, they decided to retire their business and take on a more relaxed and leisure life.

They became more active in their foundation, the Chinese Freemason and made scores of long time friends. Chuck and Lai King were easy going people and made friends easy. They enjoyed their leisure times with their friends, both at home and at the foundation, as well as dining out.

They were a popular couple and they supported their friends at the Chinese Freemason with yearly donations.

Chuck has been blessed with extended loving family members.

Chuck is survived by his beloved wife Lai King and daughter Doreen.
