Early on March 26, 2026, William Dale Loveridge, dear husband of Joan Proudfoot and proud father of Patty, Russell, and Peter, and spouses Lee Robinsong and Katarina Lang Loveridge, died after a short stay in hospital.
Dale grew up in the original village of Pinawa, site of Manitoba’s first hydro-electric generating system. After finishing high school in Winnipeg, he pursued graduate studies in geophysics at the University of Manitoba. This led to a career in geochronology with the Geological Survey of Canada.
His retirement years included world travels and he particularly enjoyed cottage life at Sand Bay, Quebec.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Beechwood Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services (280 Beechwood Ave, Ottawa). Visitation will be from 11:00, memorial service at 12:00, and reception from 12:30 to 2:00. Joan and family are grateful to the dedicated staff at the Civic Hospital and the team at Governor’s Walk Retirement Residence.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Nature Conservancy of Canada are welcome.
