David Douwe Enders passed away peacefully at the General Hospital in Ottawa, ON, on Friday, July 26, 2024 at the age of 87.

Predeceased by his wife, Alida Helena Enders (nee Van Lambalgen), he is remembered by his children: Joanne Ellen Enders O’Mara (Martin), Marinus Gerald Enders (Cheryl) and Leane Helene Marie Walsh (John); his grandchildren: Chris Enders (Véronique), Allison Hynes (David), and Kyle Murray; his great grandchildren: Greyson Hynes, Leo Hynes and Arthur Enders; his siblings: the late Jenny Meulenbelt (Evert), the late Marinus (Diane), Harry (Jean), Sietze (Donna), the late John (Janice); and many nieces and nephews.

David was born in Apeldoorn in the Netherlands in 1937, as the second of six children, where he lived through the German occupation. Together with his family, he immigrated to Canada on the Groote Beer to Saskatoon, SK in 1952. There he later met his future wife, Alida, who he married in 1959.

As a naval officer, retiring as a Commander, he lived across Canada and Europe, including Halifax, Victoria, Ottawa, as well as cities in Holland, England, and Germany, before settling in Port Moody, BC, and then finally in Ottawa, ON.

A funeral service for David will be held at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 1 p.m., with interment to follow in the National Military Cemetery, located at Beechwood Cemetery.

Leane, really sorry about the loss of your dad.
