Gordon passed away peacefully, surrounded by love and family, in Ottawa, in his 98th year.

He was predeceased by his parents, Jessie and Arnott Minnes; his siblings Jim, David and Mary; and by his infant daughter, Susan.

He is survived by Wendy, his dearly loved wife of 73 years, who was by his side to the end; his 3 loving children, Ann( Robert McComb), Michael ( Susan Kozak), and Jane ( the late Michael Rooney); his 6 wonderful grandchildren of whom he was so proud, Tom, James, Liane, David, Sarah and John; and by 5 great grandchildren.   He was, throughout his life, a dear friend to many.

Gordon was born and raised in Kingston.  He graduated in 1948 from Queen’s University and spent almost all of his working life in Montreal.  He retired in 1991 as Executive VP of the Canadian Pulp and Paper Association and then he and Wendy returned to Kingston where they had 32 great years. Gordon loved to travel, was a keen gardener and enjoyed reading, art, music and trying to break 90 on the golf course.   He always looked at life in a positive way, took nothing for granted and was up for any challenge.

Dad was a true gentleman who was devoted to Wendy and his family.   He never missed an opportunity to express his thanks and interest in those around him, making everyone feel valued and appreciated.  He was forever grateful for his long, happy and fulfilling life.  We loved him deeply and we will miss him terribly.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date.  Gordon asked that any remembrances be made to the CNIB

Gordon was a wonderful man, full of positivity and joy. I had the pleasure of taking him to several appointments as well as Wendy and enjoyed every second of our time together. Hugs to all!

Dear Ann and family:

May you find courage and strength from those who love and support you during this time. I didn't have the honor of knowing or meeting your Dad. It is evident he lived a full and rewarding life. May you find peace as you celebrate the life he lived. Xoxox
