Passed away, peacefully on Sunday June 9, 2024 at the age of 80 with his spouse of 26 years by his side, Anne-Marie Laurendeau. He will be missed by his in-laws: Jean-Pierre Laurendeau, Céline Constantin, Sylvie Laurendeau, Louis Pilon, many nephews and close friends.
Michael had a full life from early adulthood. In 1964, he embarked on a journey that took him around the world, visiting over 30 countries on 3 continents. During this trip, he worked on a Hollywood film production in Israel, and rubbed shoulders with such stars as Yul Brynner, Kirk Douglas and Frank Sinatra! On his return, he studied Interior Design at the University of Manitoba. He was an extremely talented designer, winning a Manitoba Premier's Award in 1982. He also had the honor of being a Life Member of the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO).
Michael was a fair-minded man, a lover of life, respectful of others and a proud Canadian of multiculturalism. He had a sense of humour. He will be missed.
We would like to thank the staff of the Ottawa Hospital (Civic Campus) and the Gatineau Hospital.
A memorial service will be held in the strictest privacy.
In Michael's memory, donations may be made to St. Mark's United Church of Ottawa or to the Faculty of Architecture and Interior Design at the University of Manitoba.
