With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of a beloved patriarch, Dr. Anilkant Mody, who completed his journey on April 5, 2024 at the age of 93. He leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and boundless generosity that touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born in Gujarat, India, Anil immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1960, where he became an integral part of the Gujarati community. For 65 years, he shared a deeply devoted marriage with his beloved wife, Kumud Mody, nurturing a bond that stood as a testament to enduring love and commitment.
As a father to Parimal Mody (Rupal), and Priti Muradia (Rajiv), and a cherished grandfather to three wonderful girls; Tara, Priya and Malika, and devoted brother to late Hasmukh, late Chandrakant, late Saryu, Kokila & Vipul, he epitomized the values of family, instilling in his loved ones a sense of unity, resilience, and the importance of cherishing every moment together.
Throughout his remarkable life, Anil served as a pillar in the Gujarati community, extending his hand in support to those in need. Whether it was sponsoring individuals to Canada and the US, offering assistance to budding entrepreneurs, or providing invaluable notary services, his unwavering dedication to helping others knew no bounds.
Anil found immense joy in human connection, relishing every moment spent in the company of his family and friends. His infectious laughter, warm smile, and genuine interest in others endeared him to all who crossed his path. He particularly delighted in capturing moments with his loved ones through photographs, cherishing these memories as timeless treasures.
Thank you to Frederick Persaud (our Personal Support Worker) and Grace Macleod (our Pallative Nurse) who offered great support and kindness for the last several months.
Though Anil may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of all who knew him. While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the completion of a life lived with purpose, compassion, and unwavering love.
Visitation will be held at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa on Tuesday, April 9 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with service to follow at 11 a.m. Following the service, a reception will take place in the reception suite at Beechwood.

Dearest Priti, Parimal and Kumud Auntie and Mody family,
We were so sad to hear of the passing of Anil Uncle. He is clearly remembered as a patriarch and mentor to so many in our community here on Ottawa and across generations. I so fondly remember our conversation about his secret to happy marriages (such a tribute to his obvious love and fondness for Kumud Auntie, his partner for over six decades) and also his glee and excitement when we chatted on his 90th birthday. He left a legacy with you and all of us, and truly lived a good life. Om Shanti.

I always looked up to him as someone that was ready to take on the world. My memories of coming to Canada are filled with only joy and I am deeply grateful for my time with him.
