With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of a beloved patriarch, Dr. Anilkant Mody, who completed his journey on April 5, 2024 at the age of 93. He leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and boundless generosity that touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born in Gujarat, India, Anil immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1960, where he became an integral part of the Gujarati community. For 65 years, he shared a deeply devoted marriage with his beloved wife, Kumud Mody, nurturing a bond that stood as a testament to enduring love and commitment.
As a father to Parimal Mody (Rupal), and Priti Muradia (Rajiv), and a cherished grandfather to three wonderful girls; Tara, Priya and Malika, and devoted brother to late Hasmukh, late Chandrakant, late Saryu, Kokila & Vipul, he epitomized the values of family, instilling in his loved ones a sense of unity, resilience, and the importance of cherishing every moment together.
Throughout his remarkable life, Anil served as a pillar in the Gujarati community, extending his hand in support to those in need. Whether it was sponsoring individuals to Canada and the US, offering assistance to budding entrepreneurs, or providing invaluable notary services, his unwavering dedication to helping others knew no bounds.
Anil found immense joy in human connection, relishing every moment spent in the company of his family and friends. His infectious laughter, warm smile, and genuine interest in others endeared him to all who crossed his path. He particularly delighted in capturing moments with his loved ones through photographs, cherishing these memories as timeless treasures.
Thank you to Frederick Persaud (our Personal Support Worker) and Grace Macleod (our Pallative Nurse) who offered great support and kindness for the last several months.
Though Anil may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of all who knew him. While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the completion of a life lived with purpose, compassion, and unwavering love.
Visitation will be held at Beechwood, Funeral, Cemetery and Cremation Services, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa on Tuesday, April 9 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., with service to follow at 11 a.m. Following the service, a reception will take place in the reception suite at Beechwood.

We knew Anilbhai for last 47 years.
We can follow his wisdom in all aspects of our life. A great business man but simple in life, with simple food and simple living.
He kept entire Mody family together as a head of the family. Even at this age he looked young, energetic with sense of humor. We will miss him a lot. May you rest in peace and joy for ever. May God give courage to entire Mody family a precious loss. Jai Mahavir.

Anil Mama has been a great freind philosopher and guide to me. On numerous occasion we have talked for hours together covering every aspect of life / current political and social situation and his knowledge and comments have always given me a new direction to look at the same situation from a different perspective.
His immense knowledge about the economy and human behavior was always impeccable and his passage has left a gap so wide open for any single human being to fill.
Jai Shree Krishna dear Kumudben and the entire Mody family. We share your sorrow in the loss of our beloved Anilbhai. Anilbhai was a true vadil (elder person) of the Gujarati community in Ottawa. Together with Kumudben, he was instrumental in many initiatives that have made significant contributions to the establishment of today’s vibrant Gujarati community here. With a warm smile, soft voice and a calm personality, he was always there to offer his support, guidance and encouragement to others. He took a keen interest in the achievements of our children, and expressed pride in the success of our community members. Besides his many personal achievements, Anilbhai will be remembered for his kindness and outreach. Aum Shanti, Shanti, Shanti.
