Anand Acharya passed away peacefully at home on March 3, 2024 at the age of 55, after an almost two-year battle with brain cancer surrounded by his wife and daughters. He remained unbelievably positive and accepting throughout his journey and lived each day to the fullest, spending his time with family and friends, travelling, biking, paddle boarding, walking, skating and reading. Two days prior to his passing, when the doctor asked him how he was doing he told her with all sincerity that “he was living his best life ever”. While he reached great heights in his professional life including being a Captain in the RCAF on the C130, obtaining a PhD in Economics from Carleton and being an Air Canada pilot on the Boeing 777, the thing he was most proud of was his family which he always made his top priority. He is survived by his wife (Kusum), his daughters (Nina and Jasmine), his sister (Anjali) and his parents (Padma and Jana). His wish was to be remembered and not mourned. To this end, a Remembrance of Life will be held at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa on Sunday, March 10th, 2024 from 12:00 to 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations for research may be made in Anand’s name to the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada

On behalf of the Bond family,
My deepest condolences to Kusum, Nina, Jasmine, Anjali, Jana, Padma and all extended family for the loss of your brightly shining light. Having grown up with Anand from early childhood it was as if we had added another sibling to our family. His infectious laughter, bright cheery smile and positive persona from a very early age was clearly evident. He lived life with passion and ambition that was contagious to those around him. His endearing thoughtfulness exemplified him as that of a truly great human being. He will be deeply missed by all those he has touched throughout his life.

We extend deepest sympathy to Kusum, Nina, Jasmine, sister Anjali and parents Padma and Jana. We remember Anand as a particularly bright, high spirited young man from his early Langley years.
We had the delightful experience of attending the beautiful Garden Wedding of Anand and Kusum on his families acreage, and we have followed the story of Anand’s remarkable life with great interest ever since.
Anand excelled at everything he attempted, and he was not shy at attempting the near impossible. He will be sorely missed.

We are very sorry and sad to hear about dear Anand and cannot imagine the pain and sorrow that his wife Kusum, daughters Nina and Jasmine, sister Anjali, and parents Padmakka and Jana Bhavaji are going through during this difficult time. He was taken from you and all of us way too soon. We are very sorry for your loss. We extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to all you.
I am Padma's sister from San Ramon, California. We have known Anand since he was born and have many fond memories of him during his many visits to San Ramon CA and our visits to Langley. We have known Anand as a very pleasant, loving, well-mannered, respectful, and caring person all his life. The last time we saw him was three years ago at his parents’ home in Langley during one of our visits with his parents. While we did not see Anand during his recent illness, we were always very concerned and were kept well-informed by Anjali, Padmakka and Jana Bhavaji about his treatments and progress. It seemed that the way he was progressing with a positive attitude made us feel that he would fully recover but were very saddened with his sudden demise. We can only feel good with the thought that his soul is resting in peace. We hope that the awareness of his illness that he provided his immediate family throughout battle with his illness while never denying them the love and support that they needed will guide them through this difficult time and going forward.
We pray that all of you will find peace and comfort in your heart by remembering and cherishing all the happy memories of Anand. We love you Anand. May God bless your soul.

Kusum, Jasmine and Nina, so sorry for your loss. We couldn’t have asked for better neighbours on Central. Anand was a kind and funny man and we’ll miss him.

I had the honour of working with Anand both at 435 Sqn and Air Canada. He was a brilliant pilot, inspiring leader and an even better person. Kusum, Nina and Jasmine, I’m so sorry. Anand’s example of how to live one’s life will remain an ideal towards which I shall strive.
I will always remember Anand as a class act and energetic personality! The best was when I was in Vancouver visiting Kusum's dad and mum for a short visit - as I walked up the drive this well dressed. fast moving figure appears with a happy vibe on his way out and says "Hi Jenni!!" It was Anand! And i had no idea he would be there - on his way to the airport. It was such a nice surprise and he made me smile. I'm glad I got that brief moment. Anand presence is memorable and he will be missed.
