In hospital, on Tuesday February 20, 2024 at the age of 81. Beloved wife to Peter and loving mother to Christine (Paul Byrne), John (Kristen Holm) and Elizabeth. Cherished grandmother to Michael, Kate, Ellie and Ava. Dear sister to Ross and Patricia. Predeceased by her parents Miriam (née Paynter) and Ross Stuart, her sister Betsy and grand-dog Oliver.

Janet was an avid world traveler, cottager, Special Education teacher, an excellent wife and mother. She loved books, crossword puzzles and bridge, but mostly friendships and life.

Special thanks to Dr. Drca and Dr. Jonker, Rose Leclerc and the staff of the Ottawa Cancer Clinic and the Ottawa Hospital - General Campus, for the compassionate care provided throughout her cancer treatments for the last ten months.

Drink a toast to Janet. Friends and family are invited to assemble and celebrate Janet’s Life on Friday March 1st at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre (280 Beechwood Ave.) after 1 p.m. Tributes and a toast to Janet’s life will begin at 2 p.m. In memoriam donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

What a fun lady! I enjoyed many laughs and chats with Janet at work and about our cottages near Newboro. I was sad to hear of her illness and passing. Condolences to her family.

As long time neighbours at the cottage we were surprised and very saddened by the news we have lost Janet. Always willing to help out and a great sense of humour - we will miss her!!

Two of our many goid memories were there evening canoe rides and her annual teachers day filled with laughter and swimming at the dock.

Janet was a part of my life for over 20 years. We worked together and played together, laughed together (Oh! That laugh!!!) and cried together( Well, I cried, not Janet). She taught me about the strength of women banded together to support each other, a gift that keeps on giving. I loved her and shall truly miss her. She will be with us always in our thoughts and memories and in the impact she made in the lives of those of us that she touched.

Hello Peter. We are saddened by the news of your loss and apologise for this late response. We hope that your grief has been lessened by a multitude of notes of praise for Janet and her contribution to the community. In truth, you both gave of yourselves to the people of Blackburn Hamlet. Those of us who were privileged to know you both are the better for it. So, a well deserved thank you, Janet and Peter, for making this a better world.
