In loving memory of Marjorie Laureen Green

November 13, 1935 – January 28, 2024

With great sadness, the family announces that their beloved wife, mother and grandmother Marjorie passed away peacefully at home on Sunday January 28, 2024. Marjorie Laureen Green was 88 years old. Beloved wife and best friend of Kenric for almost 59 years. Much loved and devoted mother of Wendy and Marcia (Clinton Lawrence-Whyte). Cherished and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Nicholas and Calia. Beloved aunt to Keith (Cheryl). Predeceased by her brother, Stanley Trotman.

Marjorie was a big believer in education and travel. She started her post-secondary education with a voyage by ship from Barbados to England where she trained to be an executive assistant. After marriage, she continued her travels to Canada and adapted to the cold climate.

Marjorie later continued her education to become a nurse at St. Vincent’s Hospital. Marjorie will always be remembered by her joy of cooking, her cake decorating, her love of vacations back to Barbados and cruises that she used to take with Gwendolyn Brown (now deceased) and later with her grandchildren. Marjorie would also lend a helping hand to those in need.

For those who knew her, they will fondly remember her quick wit and her ever-present smile.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Carefor, the palliative team at Bruyere and Dr. Dhami for their care and support of Marjorie during the last 18 months. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday February 7th from 10:00 to 10:30am with a service to follow at Beechwood Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Carefor Health and Community Services (Ottawa) in memory of Marjorie would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Ken, Wendy and Marcia,
With much respect , i send you and your extended family heartfelt condolences on the passing of Marjorie, a woman who was clearly an ever-present soulmate, devoted mother and grandmother. We didn't see each other much over the years, but I do not recall any occasion that she and Ken weren't together when we did meet and that she didn't make a warm smile a part of her greeting.
I always thought that together, Ken and Marjorie were a model of stability , a quality which you demonstrated quietly and without effort, making that reality more convincing . I can hardly imagine how Ken will cope with the void he must now feel in his life. In recent months, he had already lost Algonquin colleagues such as Ed Roach and Lionel Ifill ; now , it must surely be a much heavier burden to face life without the love of his life. And Wendy and Marcia, will continually miss their mother's assuring presence.
My family and I can only hope that the remembrance of the happy times which you shared together will comfort and console you during this difficult period of grief and mourning and in the days ahead.
May she rest in peace!
John and family
