It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Juanita Marie Seale (nee Boyd) on Friday, January 26, 2024, in Ottawa, peacefully, and surrounded by her children. Beloved wife of the late Carl Donald Joseph Seale (retired Major RCAF), cherished mother of Mark Seale (Judi) of New York and Lori Seale-Irving of Ottawa. Proud grandparents to Duncan (Erica) and Lindsay Cohen (Spencer) of New York, as well as Dyland Irving and Kirkland Irving of Ottawa and great-grandmother of Lily Cohen of New York. Juanita is predeceased by her parents Frank Boyd Sr and Mae Boyd (List), siblings Frank Boyd Jr and George Boyd of Nova Scotia. She is survived by her sisters Muriel (Jack), Evelyn (Claude) and Clara (Joe) as well as her brothers Henry, Ivan (Linda) and Tony (Jenny).

Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Juanita was an accomplished athlete and former beauty queen. She was employed by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation in Ottawa for more than 30 years. Sincerest thank you to the Orleans Palliative Care team and the Home and Community Care Support Services for their excellent care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Juanita Seale may be made to the Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia.

A private family service will be held at the National Military Cemetery at Beechwood in Ottawa, at a later date.

Juanita Marie Seale left behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that touched the hearts of those fortunate enough to know her. Her beautiful spirit, mirrored in her daughter Lori, and the love shared with her husband, create cherished memories that will forever echo the grace she brought to the lives she touched.

Your team and colleagues are thinking of you Lori, and your family at this very sad time. Your Mum clearly had a strong positive influence on making you who you are today, and had a big place in your heart. Draw on that love and the many good memories that you shared to get you through this difficult time. She will always be with you in your heart.
