It is with deep sadness, that we announce the passing of Benjamin (Ben) Koyman on the morning of December 24, 2023, at home with his family in Ottawa.
Beloved husband to Marie (Shacker), father to Robert, Terry, and Arlie, father-in-law to Caroline, and grandfather to Harrison, Saxon, Brooke, Ava, and Mila.
Ben was born August 8, 1932, in the Netherlands and settled in Ottawa in 1956, where he met and married Marie. Ben and Marie recently celebrated 64 years of marriage.
As the founder of Koyman Galleries, Ben created a place where Canadian artists could showcase and sell their work to everyone. By making art accessible to all, Ben was a business disrupter before the term existed.
Ben lived his life first and foremost as a devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather. Ben will be remembered as a loving, hardworking, dedicated, and selfless man who always put his family first. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm at Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Sacred Space of Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Avenue. Burial will follow at 12:00 pm, Beechwood Cemetery, 280 Beechwood Avenue.

Uncle Ben will forever be remembered by me as a sweet and kind father figure during my teenage and early adult years. He was witty and intelligent and most of all displayed a warm and kind heart. Uncle Ben touched many many lives in such a positive way. My deepest condolences to Aunt Marie and the Koyman family who have suffered a great loss. May his memory be eternal. 🙏❤️
