With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Ashley on Wednesday December 13, 2023, at the age of 39. Surrounded by her loving parents, Daniel and Cheryl, her sister Robyn and fiancé Chris, Ashley’s suffering has finally ended.

Ashley was always a fighter, never giving up. Starting with type 1 diabetes at the age of 12, Ashley dealt with serious medical issues her entire life. From early on to her greatest battle with metastatic breast cancer in March 2023, she never quit the fight.

She underwent many types of treatment to beat this horrific disease and did so with bravery, integrity and grace. She so desperately wanted more time with her family and friends (as we all did, too), and was willing to undergo more chemotherapy, radiation and other treatments to continue fighting.

Ashley’s memory will live on through her parents, sister, future brother-in-law, extended family, friends, and her soon-to-be nephew.

Celebration of Life will be held for Ashley on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave., Ottawa, ON. The Celebration will begin at 10:00 am with a service for family and friends to share memories, followed by a reception.

The family kindly requests donations to the Diabetes Association of Canada and/or to Breast Cancer Canada, instead of flowers.

Gone too soon, but never forgotten.

My condolences to Robyn and to Ashely's family.
Ashley was always full of energy, and happiness. Her aura is inspiring. I am blessed as having been part her work colleagues for a mere handful of years, sharing in some of her enduring positivity.
Ashley, thank you for the influential moments of shared experiences.

To the entire Lemire family we are so sorry for your loss. I remember Ashley's always bright personality, love of sports (we often chatted about football or the Sens!) and infectious laugh. She will be missed by many and is gone much too soon.

Ashley was my manager and team mate at the CBSA. She held our team together at the beginning of the pandemic and was a total joy to work with, fiercely loyal and extremely fair. She had wit and fire and grace and I will forever miss her as team mate, mentor and friend. My thoughts are with her family and friends.

I had the absolute pleasure of working alongside Ashley during my time at National Defence. I look back at those memories as some of the best of my career. Ashley was just an amazing human. Loyal, dedicated, funny and so fiercely devoted to her family and friends. It was just fun to be in Ashley’s presence. I can’t believe she’s gone. She made such an impact on everyone she met and her passing leaves a tremendous hole in so many lives. I am sending heartfelt condolences to the Lemire family.

I feel very fortunate to have known Ashley for many years through National Defence. She was one of the quickest and clearest thinkers I've known. More than that, I remember her easy smile and warm laugh. My sincere condolences to all those who were close to her.

My heartfelt condolences to Ashley's family and friends. As a colleague, I had the opportunity to see in action Ashley's intelligence, professionalism, unflagging humour, and consideration for others. I will always remember her as a positive force.
