With the heaviest of hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Ashley on Wednesday December 13, 2023, at the age of 39. Surrounded by her loving parents, Daniel and Cheryl, her sister Robyn and fiancé Chris, Ashley’s suffering has finally ended.

Ashley was always a fighter, never giving up. Starting with type 1 diabetes at the age of 12, Ashley dealt with serious medical issues her entire life. From early on to her greatest battle with metastatic breast cancer in March 2023, she never quit the fight.

She underwent many types of treatment to beat this horrific disease and did so with bravery, integrity and grace. She so desperately wanted more time with her family and friends (as we all did, too), and was willing to undergo more chemotherapy, radiation and other treatments to continue fighting.

Ashley’s memory will live on through her parents, sister, future brother-in-law, extended family, friends, and her soon-to-be nephew.

Celebration of Life will be held for Ashley on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the Beechwood National Memorial Centre, 280 Beechwood Ave., Ottawa, ON. The Celebration will begin at 10:00 am with a service for family and friends to share memories, followed by a reception.

The family kindly requests donations to the Diabetes Association of Canada and/or to Breast Cancer Canada, instead of flowers.

Gone too soon, but never forgotten.

Ashley, I will remember you for your humour and for your ability to stay calm in those stressful work related matters. Reading your obituary I now know why you were always that even keel, that calm voice of reason. You were a fighter, someone who has seen adversity and real struggle over and over again in your personal life. People I know that those who have endured real hard ship know that the little things don’t need or deserve any sweat equity. You will be missed by so many Ashley. I am sorry you lost your battle to illness and cancer and I send love to all your people. I am hoping some of your amazing strength rubs off on all those that love and already miss you so much.

I’m so sorry to hear this. I remember Ashley as a fierce competitor on the basketball court. We had a lot of fun over many years challenging either other one on one and competing on three point shots. Ashley was great. Sincere condolences to Robyn and the whole Lemire family.

I will always remember Ashley as a wonderful colleague - kind, highly competent, collaborative, patient, and encouraging. Even after she left DND, I reached out to her for career advice and she freely gave it and encouraged me to be brave and go after what I wanted. The GoC communications community is small and I know that many of us are going to miss her.

I extend my deepest condolences to Ashley's family and loved ones. I can only imagine the depth of your loss and hope the memories you had together give you strength during this difficult time. May Ashley rest in eternal peace.

My sincere condolences to Ashley’s family and friends. The news of Ashley’s passing is heartbreaking. I was lucky to have known her, and I will fondly remember our years working together. Always full a spirit, she brought a passion to everything she did. I will remember the laughs we shared talking about work, the ups and downs of the Sens, sports, travel and future adventures, and sometimes nothing at all. Ashley was a bright light to those who knew her, with her warm engaging smile and her compassion for others even as she fought her own fight. She was always concerned about how others were doing no matter how she was feeling, and I will always admire her for that. She was a fighter and an inspiration, and she will be deeply missed.

We were heartbroken for you, Dan and Cheryl, and all of Ashley's family and friends upon hearing of her passing. Though we never met her, we knew of the courage and tenacity she showed through all of her medical battles. She sounds like a wonderful woman, and hopefully she can now rest in peace. Our sincere condolences at this difficult time.

A light gone too soon. Having fought a similar battle, I know the strength family and friends provide and Ashley was able to fight because of the support she had. She will be deeply missed and gone too soon.🎗🎗🎗🎀❤️
